On March 5, 2025, the VLS Cares team had the honor of partnering with Houston Habitat for Humanity, as part of their Playhouse Build Program. The goal? To build more than just a playhouse—to create smiles, inspire creativity, and forge meaningful connections with the communities we proudly support. 

Together, we crafted a special Bluey-themed playhouse for the Delgado family, a military family with a vibrant 4-year-old named Tyler. This wasn’t just any playhouse; it was a gift designed with intention and heart. 

Why This Playhouse Matters 

Tyler, who is autistic, faces challenges when it comes to making connections. Recognizing how crucial imaginative play can be for his development, the playhouse was designed to encourage outdoor exploration and spark creativity. From its vibrant colors to lovingly painted custom details, this project was all about providing a safe and engaging space for Tyler to express himself. 

Building Joy, Together 

This Bluey-themed playhouse wasn’t built alone—it was a labor of love by spirited VLS Cares volunteers who joined forces to paint, hammer, and assemble each detail with care. Seeing their dedication come to life was a testament to the impact of service and the power of collaboration. 

We’re grateful to the Delgado family for allowing us to share in their story and to Houston Habitat for Humanity for creating a program that merges crafting with philanthropy so seamlessly.
