Lithium Ion batteries

July 2021, EPA published a report named "An Analysis of Lithium-ion Battery Fires in Waste Management and Recycling." It provides detailed information on the battery, causes and impacts, and many incidents described in detail.

The danger of Lithium Ion batteries (LIB) stems from the designed use of the battery itself. The dense design of LIB means it holds more power in a smaller, lighter battery. This also creates a hazard that when compressed or punctured, LIB are prone to combustion.

We must segregate and recycle to promote safety when storing, transporting, and processing.
