Drydocks Topside
The primary VLS Marine division is located in Port Arthur, Texas, on the Intracoastal Waterway at mile marker 278. This property is over 20 acres and features 1,500 feet of bulkhead waterfront and 12 feet of water depth at the bulkhead. Our team can service up to 12 30k barges at one time in this location.
Notable features and equipment at this location include:
- BIG JOHN 280′ x 92′ x 8′ drydock with a 4,500-ton capacity
- MISS JENNA 240′ x 80′ x 8′ drydock with a 3,500-ton capacity
- Three Manitowoc tower cranes with 200-foot reach and 8-ton capacity
Repair Services
VLS provides a wide range of repair for ships, including:
- Sandblasting and painting: Seawater is responsible for corrosion in ships, so protective coatings are essential. At VLS, we provide sandblasting and painting services under the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). These services extend your ships’ lifetimes and keep the environment clean of harmful chemicals.
- Heavy steel repair: Long hours on the ocean allow corrosion to wear away at a ship’s steel. Our heavy steel repair can reinforce your ship for its next trip and prevent any failures or component losses in open water.
